Dear Parents and Caregivers
Over the next fortnight every family will be offered the opportunity, at our Parent Information Evenings, to hear first-hand from your child’s teacher about the learning expectations and working relationship for this year. These information evenings have been planned to allow for a highly successful transition back to the new school year. Please let your child’s teacher know if you are unable to attend your session[s] so that any information handed out on the night can be forwarded onto you. A member of the school’s Executive Team will also be in attendance on each of the information evenings, allowing you to bring to our attention any matter which you wish to discuss further.
The opening of the new carpark has gone very smoothly – well done everybody! We hope that you are also enjoying the benefits of this new infrastructure. Some final signage is still to be installed and landscaping completed, but overall the change to the school community’s carpark habits has been outstanding. Thank you for your wonderful co-operation and patience in this matter. Thank you to those parents who have already provided us with feedback as we fine-tune how to best use this area with the safety of the children in mind.
As we begin to celebrate the many successes and achievements of the St Paul’s community both past and present, I would like to congratulate one of our past students, Lacey Thiess, on achieving an OP2 result in her senior studies at Grace Caboolture. As our partner high school, Grace College had 24.5% of their Year 12 Students achieving and OP 1 - 5 (nearly 1 in 4 OP eligible students) and 99% of the Grace students achieved a qualification in either QCE, VET or School-based Traineeship. It is reassuring to know that our Year 6 graduates are in such outstanding care when transitioning onto Grace College.
At the start of the school year we were also informed that Eden Ryan won the under 5 category in a Christmas Card competition run by Susan Lamb’s office [MP for Longman]. Congratulations to Eden on her outstanding effort!
Mrs. Lois Kube and I had the wonderful opportunity to spend some time yesterday with our Year 6 students as they participated in a Leadership Day at Petrie. We were very impressed by the attitude, participation and manners displayed by our senior classes on the day and saw great learning, living and growing in action. This bodes well for the student body as our Year 6 cohort of students help to set the tone, lead by example and embrace the concept that they are all leaders in and around the school. Thank you to Mrs Saunders and Mr Merritt, as parent helpers, and our Year 6 teachers, Mr Smith and Mrs Cottrell, who attended and supported the students on the day. We now look forward to the installation of our school leaders for 2017 on Monday 13 February.
“M&Ms!” - Starting this week our St Paul’s church will be providing a free Milk and Muffin every Tuesday morning between 8:00am - 8:20am. This wonderful initiative is available to all our students in the church’s undercover area close to the new Pick-Up zone.
Wishing you a wonderful week as we continue to enjoy this glorious summer weather.
Yours in Christ
