Dear Parents and Caregivers
Hasn’t the much needed rain over the past few days been most welcome! With the weather experts still forecasting a hot and dry summer, hopefully this rain event will stand us in good stead over the coming months. It has also been great to see God’s creation green up and come to life again after the dry winter which we had. During an interview over the past week with a new school family for next year, they remarked on the beautiful gardens and how well maintained the school grounds are – something which we seem to take for granted every day. Thank you to Mrs. Dickens and Mr. Roper for the outstanding job which they do in keeping our school looking pristine.
It was wonderful to share with you last week the news of the outstanding achievements of two of our Year 5 athletes who have qualified to represent Queensland at the Pacific Games to be held in Adelaide in December. Congratulations to Hayley [100m and relay] and Oyin [100m, high jump and relay] in placing second in their respective events at last week’s Queensland Athletics Championships. This is a wonderful achievement for both students and a significant celebratory moment for St Paul’s.
Please remember to return your family’s RSVP numbers for our End of Year Graduation and Awards Service [due back on Thursday 19 October] and the Class Placement Forms for 2018 [due back on Friday 20 October]. This will allow us to continue our fine-tuning and planning for next year. In light of this planning process, I am pleased to announce the following classroom teaching staff for 2018: Prep – Mrs Joyce Kapinga and Ms Katrina Crispe, Year 1 – Mrs Merle Schrodter and Mrs Ruth Byers, Year 2 – Miss Jenelle Cross and Mrs Cathy Henderson, Year 3 – Mrs Becky Farrell and Mrs Marnie Ferguson, Year 4 - Mrs Wendy Greene and Mrs. Lynda Witham, Year 5 – Mrs Debbie Cottrell and Mr Matt Nicholls and Year 6 – Miss Hayley Baker and Mr Ray Bellert.
We look forward to having our Kindergarten children share what they have been learning in Christian Studies and lead the congregation in worship as part of their School Sunday this weekend. It is great to see many of our 2018 Prep students being scaffolded into “big school” school life in such a supportive way.
We also look forward to welcoming these students and their parents onto our campus next week Tuesday as part of their 2018 Prep Orientation Day.
As the final touches and planning for our first ever School Colour run, to be held on Friday 3 November, is put in place, a newsletter about this event will be sent home to every family next Monday. Thank you to our P&F Group for all the behind the scenes work which is being done to make this school community event a huge success – see you there! Money raised from this event will go towards purchasing resources for our Makerspace and “Play is the Way” resources for 2018. These initiatives will be implemented across the whole school in 2018.
Many blessings for the rest of the week.
Yours in Christ
