St Paul's Lutheran Primary School and Kindergarten

Caboolture, Queensland

Term 4 Week 7

Dear Parents and Caregivers

What a week of student achievements, celebrating and GROWTH the past week has been! Congratulations to our Senior School students on their performances at last Friday’s Gala Day. Being one of the smaller primary schools and reaching a final play-off is testimony to the determination of the students, the dedication of those adults supporting and encouraging our students behind the scenes and a culture of opportunity and excellence in all we do at St Paul’s. Thank you to our PE teacher, Miss Gall, and all the coaches for your contribution in making this day possible for those students involved.

St Paul’s continues to build on and offer a Robotics and Coding Program which is second to none when it comes to Digital Technologies within a primary school setting. This past weekend saw the school fielding three teams in the First Lego League [FLL] Regional Competition, which is open to Year 4 to Year 10 students and three teams in the Junior FLL which is open to students in Year 1 - 4. All 3 senior teams placed in the top 10 [2nd, 4th and 9th] out of 40 competing teams which consisted mainly out of secondary school students. Thank you to Mrs. Lauren Stanhope who has been ably assisted by Mr. Josh Witham, a dedicated group of St Paul’s staff and wonderful parent helpers for their contribution in making this year’s Robotics competition program such a huge success. Planning for 2018 will see the school’s Robotics and Coding Program grow to include even more students. St Paul’s will also be introducing a dedicated Makerspace Program and venue in 2018 – watch this space!

On Sunday our Prep students led the final School Sunday service for the 2017 school year. Thank you to these delightful students for their very confident and interactive presentation which had the congregation on their feet and joining in. A very big thank you has to go out to our Prep staff, ably led by Mrs. Kapinga and Ms. Crispe, for the work done in preparing the students for their School Sunday. Thank you to the parents, extended family members and friends for your support of the children on the day.

Good luck to our Virtual Debating Team and their teacher, Mrs. Palmer, as they begin to prepare for the upcoming National Grand Final. Our team will be debating against Ruyton Girls’ School from Melbourne next week Tuesday afternoon. The Grand Final will be the culmination of 96 teams from 47 schools being involved in 140 debates this year. Go Team St Paul’s!

Today we had the wonderful privilege of hosting our annual Volunteers’ Morning Tea and thanking those incredible community members who are generous with their time and skill set in servicing us as volunteers. This group is made up of classroom volunteers, the P&F Group, the School Council, the Tuckshop crew and those parents who help out at a range of other school activities. Your selfless attitude and commitment to our school are appreciated by one and all.

The school has a number of very important end-of-year community events which we look forward to hosting you at over the coming fortnight:

Arts and Musical Showcase – Monday 20 November at 6.00pm

Kindergarten Graduation – Wednesday 22 November at 6.00pm

Carols at Caboolture/Junior Concert – Friday 24 November at 6:30pm

End of Year Graduation and Awards Service – Tuesday 28 November at 6:30pm

This coming Friday [17 November] is a Pupil Free Day as the teaching staff use this time proof and edit the students’ Semester 2 reports. This process will enable us to have you student’s Semester 2 report available to go home towards the end of next week.

Many blessings for the rest of the week.

Yours in Christ
