St Paul's Lutheran Primary School and Kindergarten

Caboolture, Queensland

Term 4 Week 8

Dear Parents and Caregivers

We have arrived at that part of the school year where, as a community, the pace will become a lot quicker for everyone as we look at finishing well. Starting this week, St Paul’s will be hosting a number of events as we acknowledge and celebrate what has been an outstanding year across so many areas, as well as graduating our Kindergarten and Year 6 students from their respective area within our school community.

Last night saw the students step up for the final Musical Showcase for the year. Well done to all of you on the excellent progress which you have made in this area of the school’s program. Thank you to our Music teacher, Miss Herbert, and the Grace Academy staff for a truly remarkable year of inspiring and nurturing the students in your care. On Wednesday night we will be celebrating with our Kindergarten students, their families and staff as we graduate these students into what will be “big school” in 2018. We look forward to welcoming the majority of these families into the Prep area of St Paul’s next year.

Our Year 6 students will also begin their rite of passage towards their graduation service as they spend a fun –filled day together on the Gold Coast on Wednesday. On Friday evening we gather as Community to celebrate the birth of Jesus at the annual Carols in Caboolture event. Our Junior School students [Prep – Year 2] will be front-and-stage as they present their Junior School Concert as part of the Carols night.

Next week Monday night will see our Year 6 students dress up and step out as they attend their Graduation Dinner. On Tuesday night the whole school [Prep – Year 6] will be part of the end-of-year Graduation and Awards Service. As this is a formal school event, all students are expected to be their formal school uniform with the Prep students in their sports uniform. This will be followed by a “step-up morning” on Wednesday as the Prep – Year 5, as well as those students who will be new to our school in 2018, get the opportunity to visit their new classroom and meet their teacher for 2018. Wednesday 29 November will also be the final day of Term 4 for the students.

Last week Friday the teachers spent the working day proofing and editing the students’ Semester 2 reports in readiness for them to go out on Thursday. You are strongly encouraged to make use of our strong open door policy and call for an interview with your child’s teacher, before the end of the school year, if there is any aspect of their report which you would like to discuss further. I need to acknowledge and thank the teachers for the absolute professionalism and hours of work which went into this process over the past few weeks – a process which takes place over and above the daily demands of work and family life. I feel blessed to have each and every one of you on the St Paul’s team. Your child’s report pack will also include a hard copy of the 2018 Term 1 Calendar as well as information about the Family Administration Day [FAD] which will be held on Friday 19 January 2018.

Congratulations to the following Year 5 students who were announced as the student leaders elected for 2018. We pray that God will bless these young people and their families as they begin to prepare to take up their respective leadership roles in the school next year.

Good luck to our Virtual Debating Team as they, under the guidance of our RISE Teacher Mrs. Palmer, work on the finishing touches of their topic in readiness for the National Final on Thursday. What a way for St Paul’s to finish the school year!

We have another St Paul’s students making their mark on the Queensland swimming circuit. Congratulations to Amber Vivian who has qualified to swim in the 200m Freestyle at the Queensland State Championships in 2018. Amber has also qualified in the Wide Bay State team for the 4x50m freestyle relay.

Thank you to our P&F Group who will be investing just over $16,000 back into our school from the fundraising efforts this year. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in the fundraising projects in 2017. What a blessed community we are!

We look forward to hosting you, and I would personally like to invite you to attend as many of these closing events which may relate to your family as we celebrate the LEARNING, LIVING and GROWING which has taken place in 2017!

Have a great week.

Yours in Christ
