Dear Parents and Caregivers
As part of our journey to nurture and grow our students as independent, creative and collaborative learners, they are now looking forward to hosting you at tomorrow afternoon's Learning Expo! What an incredible experience and opportunity awaits us all to see, hear and learn first-hand about the rich Inquiry Learning which has taken place at St Paul's over the past 10 weeks. The afternoon will also provide the opportunity for you to visit all our year levels and to experience the children's learning journey successes. See you there!
Virtual debating keeps going from strength to strength at St Paul's after winning the Year 5/6 section in this national competition last year. Congratulations to our Senior School Virtual Debating Team, of Alana Grimaux, Bailey Smith , Maya O'Connor and Tait Smith, on winning through to the 3rd round of this year's competition after winning their debate last week against St Lukes Grammar School, Dee Why, Sydney. Their topic "That we should ban sports involving animals (horse racing, greyhound racing)" wasn't an easy one to be the affirmative for, but they did an incredible job in convincing the adjudicating panel of their arguments. Thank you to Mrs Narelle Palmer for the great passion which she brings to this part of the school's program and her dedication to all the students involved in the program.
Thank you to our Year 3 students on sharing their School Sunday message about Pentecost this past weekend. Once again the confidence, clear articulation and creativity of the students', need to be highlighted and congratulated. Thank you to the many parents, caregivers and other family members who turned up on masse to support the Year 3s on the day. A big thank you also needs to go out to Mrs. Ferguson, Mrs. Farrell and the Year 3 team on the time, planning and rehearsals which went in to making this possible. We now look forward to our Prep School Sunday coming up on Sunday 3 June.
This afternoon GSP [Grace/St Paul's] Soccer will be hosting the inaugural Christian Schools' Soccer Cup. To see the GSP Soccer coaching program go from strength to strength, is testimony to the hard work and dedication put in by Mr Matt Nicholls and his team of helpers – thank you to all concerned.
Staffing news: It is with mixed feelings that I am letting you know that Mrs Libby Sansome has informed my office that she will be stepping away from St Paul's at the end of the term to take up a teaching position at Coolum Christian College at the beginning of Term 3. We will acknowledge Libby's service, to both St Paul's and Lutheran Education, at a function at the end of the term. Planning is now underway to fill this position for Semester 2 and beyond. I will endeavor to keep you informed of this process over the coming week.
Many blessings for the rest of the week.
Yours in Christ.
