Term 3 Week 5

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Welcome to Week 5! I hope that everyone has enjoyed the long weekend break and the beautiful winter weather with which we have been blessed. At the end of this week, we will be halfway through this term already – as the saying goes, time really does fly when you are having fun! On Friday Mrs. Lois Kube and I will be heading to Sydney to attend the 2018 Australian Education Awards as we acknowledge our nomination as a finalist in the Australian Primary School of the Year [non-government] category – a nomination which is all about our contemporary learning journey, growth mindset but most importantly, it's about the incredible people who make us the community we are! As we introduce and focus on the value of Appreciation this week, I would like to thank every school family for your loyalty, ongoing support and strong working partnership which you have with St Paul's.

Congratulations to our Senior School Athletics Team on an outstanding District Carnival last week at which they won both the C-Division [small schools] and the overall Aggregate competition across all the schools competing – what a season these students are having! Good luck to those athletes who will now move on to representing the school and our District at the Regional Athletics Championships next month. Thank you to our PE Teacher, Miss Jess Gall, for encouraging and supporting all these students in such a selfless way. [See the full report in the newsletter]

As we welcome back our Year 3 students from their first Outdoor Education camp, we wish our Year 5 students a time of rich experiences and a safe camp as they head off to Noosa North Shore this week. Thank you to our Year 3 teachers, Mrs. Marnie Ferguson and Mrs. Becky Farrell, the Year 3 support staff as well as those parents who attended as camp helpers, for your time and commitment in making this opportunity possible for our students.

Congratulations to two of our Senior School Robotics' Teams on competing and placing 20th and 26th respectively, out of 52 teams, on the weekend. This is a great result and a wonderful learning experience for these students considering that most of the teams competing were high school teams. Thank you to Miss Hayley Baker, Ms Jenny Davis, Mr Josh Witham and Mr and Mrs Lindsay on supporting these students on the past weekend. We look forward to our Junior School Robotics Club which begins on Monday 20 August 2018.

Over the next fortnight, a number of school events will be taking place and all our families are encouraged and invited to be part of these festivities, times of sharing and planning:
This coming Sunday our Year 2 students will be hosting and sharing with us their School Sunday presentation.
Next week is Book Week at St Paul's with our annual Character Dress Up Parade on Tuesday, Book Blanket on Thursday and our Book Fair which will run all week.
On Friday next week, we look forward to hosting all our Grandparents as part of our Grandparents' Day celebrations.

On Saturday 25 August we will be reviewing our current Strategic Plan as we consider, fine-tune and discuss our school's strategic direction over the next 3 years.
I hope to see many of you at these various events over the coming fortnight.

Calling all Fathers and Sons! We are looking forward to hosting you at our Fathers and Sons' event which will take place on the afternoon of Thursday 30 August. Please remember that your RSVP to this event is due on Thursday 24 August 2018.

Have a safe week.

Yours in Christ.
