An invitation to extend the learning of every child
Every child is invited to share and extend their learning in the Learning Enrichment classroom over the coming weeks….. and beyond!
Whether I am working with students experiencing learning difficulties or challenging students in the Gifted and Talented programs, each week I encounter a common barrier to learning progress - the fear of failure.
Failure in itself is an achievement: Would you fail if you had not tried? Consequently we must encourage our children to not shut down as a ‘failure avoidance’ strategy, but to look at their mistakes and failures as essential steps in the process towards real achievement. The secret to success is to celebrate failure’s role in the learning process. Therefore, each of St Paul’s students are invited to investigate famous quotes about the positiveness of failure and then post their favourite quote on the ‘Failure to Success Pathway’ wall in my Learning Enrichment classroom (next to the Uniform Shop). Students (and parents) are welcome to revisit my room regularly to read and be inspired as more contributions are added to the wall.
