At St Paul’s, we believe sport is about so much more than winning. It’s about discovering what your body can do, cheering on your teammates, pushing through a challenge and feeling the pride of representing your school. Our sports program is designed to give every child, regardless of ability, the opportunity to get active, have fun and grow.
Each year, our school community comes together for three sporting events that celebrate participation, perseverance and St Paul’s team spirit.
Cross Country Carnival: Held in the first half of the year, our Cross Country Carnival encourages every student to challenge themselves and do their personal best. It’s not about being the fastest; it’s about showing up and giving it everything you’ve got.
Athletics Carnival: A highlight of the school calendar, our Athletics Carnival is a full day of track and field events including sprints, relays, long jump, shot put and more. House spirit runs high and it’s one of those days your child will talk about for weeks.
Swimming Carnival: Open to confident swimmers in Years 3 to 6, our Swimming Carnival includes competitive races and novelty events to cater for all ability levels, making it a favourite among students and families alike.
We know that not every child develops at the same pace, and that’s something we celebrate. Our younger students take part in junior versions of each major carnival, thoughtfully designed to match their developmental stage with an emphasis on fun, safety and skill-building. Every child gets to feel the excitement of carnival day, right from the very beginning of their St Paul’s journey.
Throughout the year, students in Years 3 to 6 are invited to take part in a variety of Gala Days, trying new sports, making new friends and representing St Paul’s with pride. Sports on offer include Soccer, Netball, AFL, Touch Football, Basketball, Cricket and more, with new opportunities added throughout the year. Gala Days are a great way for students to discover a new passion and develop a love of physical activity in a fun and inclusive environment.
Whether your child is brand new to sport or already competing at a high level, our program is designed to support and challenge every individual. We focus on participation, sportsmanship and personal growth, encouraging every student to be active, engaged and confident in their own abilities.
At St Paul’s, sport builds character, resilience and a sense of belonging that extends far beyond the oval. Through movement, teamwork and the thrill of competition, our students learn some of life’s most important lessons, and have a great time doing it.
