Year 6 Inside Story

The Year 6 students have been taking wonderful steps forward in their maths understanding and development making a challenging and rewarding start to their final year of Primary school.  We have been extremely proud of the students’ perseverance and determination as we have progressed through challenging Year 6 topics and units.

Students have built on their knowledge of two-way tables to plan weekly timetables in both 12 and 24-hour time. As you can see, they have produced some well – organised and detailed timetables of activities and have a good grasp on 12 and 24-hour time.

Another focus over the past weeks has been consolidating fraction and decimal number knowledge and understanding. Students are pictured working on strengthening their understanding of tenths. In the coming weeks, we will work with this knowledge to understand more about percentages and how discounts are applied to items. A worthwhile skill to calculate how much we are actually saving when shopping at sales! 😊
