Our History

The St Paul's Lutheran congregation in Caboolture had the ambition to build a school that would not only serve the needs of their children but provide a good Christian education for others in the community. In 1980 the church purchased the land the school now occupies. The school opened its doors for the first time some 5 years later. Over the following years, the school has slowly expanded to its present size with two classes for each grade level from Year 1 to 6 and a triple stream at Prep.

The school commenced in 1985 with just three classes. These were pioneering days. Parents, children and staff joined together with a will. Difficulties and shortages were overcome with inventiveness and energy. The school became involved with a variety of local activities and soon became well known within the town and surrounding districts.

St Paul's continued to grow and in 1996 a decision was made to add a Preschool to the classes offered, and to begin double streaming all grades from Preschool to Year 7. A major building program was undertaken in 1999 which included a new Preschool (now Prep), extra classrooms and a refurbished administration building. These new buildings were used for the first time in 2000.

It was not long after this in 2001, that the St Paul's Church Council purchased 14 acres of land adjacent to the school and later designated it for a future high school. Discussions began in 2003 between Grace Lutheran College and the then Principal of St Paul's, Trevor Winderlich, to see if Grace might be interested in commencing a secondary school for St Paul's students and other interested families in the Caboolture region. An investigating committee was established in September 2004 to assess the feasibility of the project.

Towards the end of 2006, the investigating committee was abandoned and was replaced by a planning committee. The feasibility study was positive and the decision was made by the Grace Lutheran College council to proceed. At the same time the St Paul's School Council decided to make preparations for the commencement of a 3rd stream of students and to phase out Year 7 from 2010, owing to the commencement of middle school on the Grace College site next door.

In April 2007 the St Paul's School Council Chair and Grace College School Council Chair signed a Statement of Agreement of Principles. This document presented a blue-print for mutual school development at Caboolture in the years to come.

Grace Lutheran College Caboolture commenced in 2008 with Years 7 and 8. During the building development classes for Year 7 were held in vacant rooms at St Paul's and Year 8 at a nearby church. The new campus was officially opened on 23 May 2008.

St Paul's has continued its building program, enabling them to accomodate a third stream of students. This has involved extra classrooms and a new library, the building which previously housed the Library is now a Multi-purpose building which can be used for incursions, Physical Education on wet days and other activities.

In 2013, St Paul's opened an Early Learning Precinct, comprising a two-stream Kindergarten run on a Long Day model, and a triple Prep classroom and amenities block.  The St Paul's Lutheran Kindergarten offers places to 3 year olds in a Pre-Kindy class and 4 year olds in a Kindy Class.

St Paul's celebrated its 30 Year Anniversary in 2015. Agile learning was introduced in Year 3, 2015 and has transitioned to purpose-built rooms in Year 4, 5 and 6.

During the 2016/17 Christmas break, the redevelopment of the school carpark was successfully completed. This project included the incorporation of a new drop and go zone which has greatly increased the morning and afternoon routine for Parents, carers and students.
