Last Wednesday, Year 4 students along with their teachers, support staff and parent helpers headed off for 3 days of fun and activities at Maranatha Recreation Camp Yandina. They conquered the jungle ropes course, competed at rocket ball, tried their aiming skills in archery, worked together at possum pull, walked to Wappa Falls, tackled the Tower of Tremble, learned the art of campfire cooking, participated in sketching, experienced Indigenous Australian Culture and were thrilled by an indoor experience with Australian Native Owls. All arrived home safely on Friday, tired yet excited for the opportunities that their parents had allowed them to experience by attending camp. Thank you to everyone who worked to help make this camp a success.
2019 has seen a busy start for our RISE groups. Years 1 and 2 are honing their independent study skills while learning about islands and becoming citizens of the world. Years 3 and 4 are becoming investigative superstars by immersing themselves in studies of Ancient Greece. Our Year 5 and 6 groups are building their arsenal of design thinking skills in preparation for high school. This term they are experiencing the “Ideation” stage while they prepare a prototype app or game to raise awareness of childhood obesity.
