Ways to ‘Love our school’ I was reading an interesting article the other day by Danny Huerta, Vice President of ‘Parenting & Youth’ at Focus on the Family. In this article, Danny encourages students to think about whether they are a Noticer, Builder or Connector as they consider ways to love their school.

Inside Story Year 5
Debating
At the end of Term 2, and throughout Term 3, we (Year 5 Students) learnt about debating as part of our English unit. The teachers organised us into random groups of four to five people, and gave us topics to debate about. We got into our groups and came up with our arguments. It was fun working with new people and it was interesting listening to their different ideas. When doing rebuttals we watched the other teams’ argument videos and wrote a rebuttal against it. The process was fun but quite challenging. We really enjoyed it!

We all know and probably love the song ‘Over the Rainbow’ version by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. If he were entering one of those talent shows today, he might not make it through because he doesn’t fit the image of perfection that seems so necessary in the eyes of the media. But he is loved by so many and an icon in Hawaii. An incredibly inspiring person who just let his gentle, soothing voice tell the story. These are some inspiring things he said before he tragically died age 38. Also here is the official video of the song on youtube. Just look at the number of views it has. 1.2 billion! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1bFr2SWP1I “Facing future I see hope, hope that we will survive, hope that we will prosper, hope that once again we will reap the blessings of this magical land, for without hope I cannot live, remember the past but do not dwell there, face the future where all our hopes stand.” “Be strong, know who you are, no be shame, stand up, e ala e.” “Wherever you go, God be with you.”
