National Simultaneous Story Time
This year NSS takes place on Wednesday 25 May 2022 at 11:00am and we would love it if you could join us! Everyone can join NSS, it doesn’t matter whether you are at home, a school, a public library or even a university library!
National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 22nd successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children’s book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.

I will miss the students and their smiling faces terribly!
I just want to share with you how amazing your children are (even though you already know). Your parenting skills are fantastic because you are raising awesome humans. I have enjoyed every minute of my time with them and have loved watching them grow and mature.
Looking forward to seeing you all in 2023!
Love,
Jenny

Caleb played a solid role as a centre half throughout, looking the part more and more as the day progressed. For the last two games alongside Diing, struck up a good defensive partnership at the back.
Lucas played as both left and right full back and looked at ease on either side working hard with his wingers up and down the line. A crashing penalty got Lucas on the scoresheet in an impressive game against Nambour.
They all did themselves and St Paul’s proud!

Believers were to “think about these things.” While God guards our hearts (Philippians 4:7), we are also commanded to focus our lives on things that please God. There is an ongoing back and forth throughout Paul’s writings, which indicates God’s involvement in every aspect of the life of the believer. At the same time, believers are commanded to live according to God’s ways. He does the work, yet gives us work to do. Believers are called to trust in the Lord, yet also to serve the Lord. Paul set an example for how to do both. He was faithful in prayer, yet gave every bit of his life to serve the Lord.
Students have built on their knowledge of two-way tables to plan weekly timetables in both 12 and 24-hour time. As you can see, they have produced some well – organised and detailed timetables of activities and have a good grasp on 12 and 24-hour time.
Another focus over the past weeks has been consolidating fraction and decimal number knowledge and understanding. Students are pictured working on strengthening their understanding of tenths. In the coming weeks, we will work with this knowledge to understand more about percentages and how discounts are applied to items. A worthwhile skill to calculate how much we are actually saving when shopping at sales! 😊
As an immediate focus, I want to work in partnership with families to ensure that no physical behaviour is left unaddressed. Safety is our number one priority and therefore a student’s actions may warrant a phone call for them to be collected from school should they be displaying unsafe behaviours towards others. This has been a topic I have been addressing at Assemblies and with each year level to understand the consequences of hurting another student, provoked or unprovoked. They have been told very clearly that this is not acceptable at our school. Staff are on duty during break times and students are encouraged to report incidents they witness. Likewise, my door is always open and I encourage parents to contact me with any matters that you have with regards to behaviour concerns. I look forward to working with you to build a respectful and supportive student body at St Paul’s.
Twenty-three of our remarkable runners attended the District Cross Country event last week. A wonderfully prepared and hosted event, perfect weather and immaculate conditions underfoot ensured a thoroughly enjoyable experience and a cracking pace for every course.
All our students competed brilliantly, giving a wonderful display of their talents and efforts across the 2km and 3km courses. In fact, such was the output amongst our athletes, that St Paul’s placed first in our Divison of schools, indicating the highest level of performance across our District. When you consider that no less than 19 schools and 470 runners were involved, the performances of our boys and girls were quite remarkable. Each event had at least 70 competitors with a few age brackets hosting more than 90 runners.
Amongst a host of outstanding performances, Aiden M earned a District Champion medal as winner of the 11- year old boys and Ivy A placed 4th in the 10-year old girls event. Both Aiden and Ivy have qualified to represent Caboolture District at the next level of Carnival. The Regional event will be held later this month.
In addition to Aiden and Ivy, our full team consisted of :
Harvey F (9th), Indiana A (17th), Ava L (16th), Kobe P (top half), Ava P (10th), Konnah J (20th), Ding K (11th), Ellenore C (27th), Cameron K (top half), Allira C (top 60%), Eli M (31st), Callum B (18th), Kaleb J (31st), Leyla F (20th), Eli M (33rd), Anabelle M (top 60%), Deng D (top 75%), Chelsea M (top 75%), Caleb F (top 70%), Mila J (31st), Emma K (top 60%) and Cailin D (top 75%).
Year 6 parents are advised that applications are now open for the various Ignite Excellence Programs at Grace Lutheran College for Year 7 2023.
