This week, we introduced our value of “Hope”. Hope is having faith in what we can not see and knowing that God’s plans are always good. Even in times of distress and darkness, hope is what we hang onto deeply engrained in our hearts to believe that there is goodness to come. Sometimes we hope for good weather or to go on a family holiday to the Gold Coast or hope that the new shoes you bought online fit! Clearly, what is hoped for may or may not come to pass. The hope of believers, however, is more than a desire or a wish. It’s an unshakable confidence in God — even when circumstances give us every reason to doubt. Children are the best at looking at the possibilities and greatness of the future. As we become adults and the weight of this becomes more serious and sometimes heavy to carry, we can look to the simple view our children have of the world for a refreshing break. My prayer is that we continue to view the world in a childlike way and ask our Saviour to help us carry the burdens.
A couple of reminders:
Week 8 is our Father’s Day Stall and Fathers and Daughters Event. Week 9 will see our Year 5 students embark on their team building camp from Tuesday to Friday. Walk My Way is a family friendly event that sees our Lutheran Ministries Community come together to raise money for refugee children. Our Free Dress Day on the last day of term will also go towards this ministry. Every $26 raised sends a child to school for a year! Finally, we will be spreading awareness for our Cyber Safety Week including our Rainbow Day! Please keep an eye out in your email and on Social Media, as all of the event information will be sent home via these platforms.

Family Book Club
Family Book Club is kicking off again and we have chosen to read the intriguing story of “The One and Only Ivan.”
The One and Only Ivan is a bestselling novel about hope and friendship. It was inspired by a real silverback gorilla named Ivan who was held captive for 27 years.
Narrated by Ivan himself, a beautiful story of friendship unfolds between Ivan, an elephant named Stella, and a stray dog named Bob. I encourage you to come to the GLAD Centre and borrow your own family copy of this book and read it together as a special, month-long loan.
QAMT Quiz
Last Monday, 30 Year 5 & 6 students participated in the Queensland Association of Mathematics quiz. Questions ranged from estimating the Eleanor Schonell Bridge, near UQ to working out when Pythagoras was born. Students as well, engaged in group work and had individual quiz questions. Spending an afternoon learning more about maths, taking risks and having fun was so much fun! Well done to all students involved for their growth mindset, persistence and positive attitude.
AFL GIRLS
“Last Friday, we went to play AFL for Gala Day. We had a great time versing other teams, who were all much bigger and taller than us! We may have not won any games, but we won in sportsmanship. Other teams commented on how we didn’t give up the whole day! We had a lot of fun, but we wish the canteen was open! Overall, we had a great time playing AFL”. – Miya F and Evie Z on behalf of the AFL girls.
GIRLS TOUCH
Our wonderful girls’ teams participated in the final round of games on last Friday. The Junior Team finished the day undefeated after several outstanding displays. All players were to be commended for their fine sportspersonship and good natured participation. Numerous tries, strong defence and increasingly daring play characterised an all-round fantastic team performance.
The Senior Team found themselves against high quality opposition in making the championship rounds, and, while outclassed in the first few games, played with a great resolve and resilience and improved both performance and attitude with each outing. Strong defensive performances from Shinaya T, Ellenore C and Anabelle M especially, combined with outstanding running from Cailin D, Ododoeye O and Sarah L meant our girls finished the day with a win and overall 5th place from 20 teams.
Year 6 Inside Story
In Science, students in Year 6 have been exploring the transfer of energy and how it can be transformed from one form to another when generating electricity.
They learned that electrical energy can be transferred and transformed in electrical circuits and can be generated from a range of sources. They identified some sources as preferable to others due to efficiency, availability, effect on the environment and affordability.
Students:
- investigated how electrical energy can control movement, sound, or light in a home;
- selected appropriate materials, components, tools, equipment, and techniques to safely construct model houses, complete with working electrical circuits;
- generated, developed, and communicated design ideas and processes for the presentation of their work to an audience, using appropriate technical terms and graphical representation techniques; and
- explained how scientific knowledge helps us to solve problems and inform decisions about the use of energy
It was wonderful to be able to display and present the model houses and explanation cards at our Learning Expo. Students were able to explain their learning, the process of constructing the houses and their problem solving skills during the construction to parents at the Learning Expo, to visiting classes and to their grandparents!
All you need to do is:
- Register using the QR code or head to Caboolture Walk My Way site
- Send out your fundraising page to as many people as you can!
- Order your special shirt for the day through the website https://walkmyway.org.au/

Busking Day
I am so proud of our students for being so brave and performing in front of their peers at Busking Day last week. There was an amazing buzz around the school as 8 stations popped up and students wowed their peers with their amazing talents in singing, dancing, rapping, joke telling, and more. Thank you to all of the students for their participation and well done to the buskers who have received a special invitation to perform at the Learning Expo.
Learning Expo
Learning is a journey at St Paul’s, and one that we enjoy being an influential part of. This year, our Learning Expo will allow you to travel throughout our school. From 3pm-4pm there will be a coffee van and food trucks between the Multi-Purpose Courts and the Library. Some of our Super Star Buskers will be performing for you as you enjoy some food and relax on the green. From 4pm-5 pm, students will need to be in their classrooms and stay until 5pm to showcase their learning as you tour our school. This year, you will receive a passport and our teachers will give you a stamp when you visit their area. We have 50 coffee vouchers to give away for people who fill their passports. This will be in the Departures area as you leave.
RWI Update
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been testing students in Prep – Year 2 in their reading. It is amazing to see the confidence they are growing and flourishing under the Read Write Inc program! From this week, our new RWI groups will begin. Our RWI tutors are excited to settle into their new groups and get to know the students.
